My Space: From Backstage Buddies to Spa-Worthy Treatments, Les Miz's Devin Ilaw Shares His Backstage Essentials

When he’s not leading a revolution as Marius in the national tour of Les Miserables, Devin Illaw needs a calm spot to relax backstage. Here, the actor offers a tour of his dressing room. Find out what (and who) makes the list of his must-haves for putting on Les Miz.

“We wear some heavy dirt makeup in the show, so I have my very own smorgasbord of Origins toner, exfoliant, moisturizer and more to keep my skin fresh and healthy.”

“I use my iPhone to get pumped before performances, look for post-show local dives to grab food and drink and call my parents and grandma on Sundays. And, of course, I have to keep up on my social media.”

“One thing Marius and I have in common is we are both serious students. I take this leather-bound notebook everywhere I go. This is where I record any notes I get from the show, drawings, recipes and ideas for song arrangements.”

“I have become a victim of dry heat in hotel rooms and theaters on this tour. My brother gave me this awesome travel humidifier for Christmas. Now, I'm a happy, hydrated human.”

“Everyone needs a best friend on tour; mine happens to be a crazy French-Canadian named Genevieve Leclerc, who plays Fantine. We like to satiate our foodie palates at local restaurants, hit the gym and go shopping together. It’s a match made in heaven.”

See Ilaw in Les Miserables at Calgary’s Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium from June 25 through July 7.
