Fake Tony Portrait - Alan Cumming - Kristin Chenoweth

Kristin Chenoweth & Alan Cumming Will Host 2015 Tony Awards

April 27th, 2015 | By Imogen Lloyd Webber

We told you that a dynamic duo might be emceeing Broadway's biggest night! On the Twentieth Century headliner Kristin Chenoweth and recent Cabaret star Alan Cumming will host the 69th Annual Tony Awards on June 7 live from Radio City Music Hall in New York City. The ceremony will air on CBS, which has broadcast the event since 1978. This will not be the first time the pair have teamed up— they have previously worked together on the animated movie Strange Magic, CBS' The Good Wife and the 1999 TV movie version of Annie.

Chenoweth won a Tony for her performance in You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown and received a nod for originating the role of Glinda in Wicked. Her many screen credits also include an Emmy-winning turn on Pushing Daisies, as well as Glee, The West Wing and the upcoming Descendants. Chenoweth is currently starring opposite Peter Gallagher in the Broadway revival of On the Twentieth Century. The Roundabout production is playing a limited engagement through July 5 at the American Airlines Theatre.

Cumming won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for playing the Emcee in 1998's Cabaret, a role he recently reprised for Roundabout. His other Broadway credits include Design For Living, The Threepenny Opera and his mostly one-man performance of Macbeth in 2013. Along with The Good Wife, his film and TV resume includes X2, Spy Kids, Web Therapy, Burlesque, Spice World, Josie and the Pussycats, Annie and The Anniversary Party.

Speculation has been rife about who would get the gig, with Neil Patrick Harris ruling himself out and a number of other names in the mix including Tony winner James Corden, Stephen Colbert and Jim Parsons.

The nominations for the 2015 Tony Awards will be announced live on April 28 from New York City.
